Mars-One falls short of estimated applicants... But so what?

Along with many people supporting this mission, there are just as many waiting on Mars-One to fail. As great poets of the rap world once said, 'Haters Gonna Hate'. Mars-One could end up planning everything right, yet there will be some scientist or some old astronaut critiquing every move. But you know what? That's a good thing. All of this criticism should help Mars-One push even harder for one, and just maybe a critic will think of something that wasn't thought of yet, helping Mars-One plan around whatever that may be.

The latest that critics are reporting on now is the fact that Mars-One was expecting over a million applicants, but only received around 170,000. ONLY 170,000.... Are you kidding me? For someone to want to kiss their friends, family, belongings, and Mother Earth goodbye and take a one way trip to Mars, 170,000 applicants is outstanding. Sure Mars-One was probably hoping for the remainder of application fees, but they should be able to make it up in donations, merchandise sales, sponsors, oh, and let's not forget the planned reality TV show.

This also doesn't mean less people are interested... I would LOVE to sign up if I didn‘t have to leave my family behind. Or maybe I would if I knew my family would be WELL taken care of. But that's not an option, so I will be showing my support by purchasing some merchandise (I'm totally buying the black hoodie!) and by making the occasional donation. And I'm sure there are a half million people just like me: unable to apply, but willing to support the cause.

Yes this quest is going to be hard. Yes there will be many challenges, some of which will be unforseen. But I believe this is something we will be able to do. I believe this is something we NEED to do.

GO MARS-ONE!!! You have our support!!!
